Mwanamugimu: Seeds of Storytelling Showcase
Theme: Africa in Southern California — Influence, Innovation, Identity
From small seeds to mighty stories—tell the story you can only tell.
Lambda Rho Sigma Alumnae Chapter (Santa Monica) of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated invites students to create an original media piece showing how Africa and/or the African diaspora influences Southern California—through culture, language, music, art, food, spirituality, community traditions, or lived experience.

Choose ONE format:
• Short Video Essay / Mini-Documentary (2–5 min)
• Spoken Word / Performance Poem (90 sec–3 min)
• Audio Story / Podcast Segment (3–6 min)
• Lyric + Original Song / Rap (1.5–4 min)
• Visual Media Essay (2–5 min narrated slideshow)
Required for ALL entries: a clear message, at least 2 evidence points, credits/sources, and a Creator’s Process Log (plus transcript for audio).
Deadline: Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST

This impactful day is designed to uplift and empower Black youth, youth impacted by the foster care system, and youth experiencing homelessness through inspiration, leadership development, and support for overall well-being.
